choosing God 💚

But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15 NIV)
Moses could have had a big position in Egypt, he was destined for wealth and fame as a ruler one day but he chose to please God rather than seek the worlds pleasures. He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. (Hebrews 11:25 NIV) God was more important to him than anything else.
Daniel also faced the decision of following God or man. But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way. (Daniel 1:8 NIV) he decided he wasn’t going to enjoy the food and drink that had been offered to idols. he wasn’t going to disobey God and chose to separate himself from the sinful acts of the people and simply follow Gods commands.
many others face the decision to separate from sin, and you will face the same decision as well. everyone will be tempted to enjoy sin and take part in it’s pleasures. sin is enjoyable for a time but it always comes with consequences. God has eternal pleasures to offer you but many times sin is more desirable to our flesh. while we can see the rewards of following sin right now, it is often difficult to see the true spiritual rewards God offers. BUT when you choose to follow God, He will open the windows of heaven and pour out blessings that far surpass the temporary joys of sin! we all face the choice, make it your choice to follow God and neglect the pleasure of sin today. God desires us to see past the immediate pleasures of sin and choose to enjoy the eternal joys of following him.
* I pray that when I’m tempted with sin God would give me the wisdom to see past the pleasure of sin and choose to serve Him.
