And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. (Luke 4:4 KJV)
Even in the early days of the Lords ministry, satan tempted Him, seeking to discourage His ministry. Luke 4:1 says, “And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness” these steps of The Lord were not only planned but also guided by Gods spirit. there was a purpose for the trail Christ went through. Luke 4:2 says, “Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.” The Lord spent time praying and fasting, seeking gods strength before facing the devil. during a time of physical weakness, Christ was enticed with the devil. but He didn’t give in to temptation. rather than letting the thought of sin linger, He replied to the devils temptations with the sure word of God. satan attacked The Lord three times and all three times christ answered him with scripture. Jesus showed us how we can have victory over the devils temptations. we must be in Gods word and memorizing scriptures that will help us resist the devil. if we have weakness and struggles in our life we must be in Gods word diligently to have victory over those temptations. spend time finding scripture dealing with your weakness, remember them and when the devil tempts us in these areas – we can answer his temptations with the powerful word of God.
*I pray that I would have the strength to always answer any temptations with Gods word. that Gods truths would always be on my mind and ready to use when tempted.
