Joseph of Arimathea took a risk and went to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body. (Joseph was an honored member of the high council, and he was waiting for the Kingdom of God to come.) Joseph bought a long sheet of linen cloth. Then he took Jesus’ body down from the cross, wrapped it in the cloth, and laid it in a tomb that had been carved out of the rock. Then he rolled a stone in front of the entrance. (Mark 15:43, 46 NLT)
Joseph was a wealthy man who was saved early in Jesus’ earthly ministry, he wanted to preserve Jesus’ body and requested to bury it in his own tomb. The linen joseph used for Jesus’ body was a picture of His righteousness. When we receive Jesus Christ as our Saviour, we are wrapped in His righteousness. As we seek Him for forgiveness from our sins, we are declared righteous before Gods throne. Christ’s death and resurrection is a picture of forgiveness and righteousness! sometimes it’s hard for us to comprehend Gods forgiveness because our human forgiveness is only temporary. but when we ask God to forgive us, He never remembers ours sins again! while me may struggle to forgive others, God forgives us and declares us righteous.
* I pray that God would always give me the courage to forgive others just as He has so graciously forgiven me!!
